P-values are strongly influenced by sample size. With a very large sample, even a tiny (practically insignificant) effect produces a very small p-value. A study with n = 1,000,000 might find p = 0.0001 for an effect of Cohen's d = 0.01 (trivially small), while a study with n = 50 might find p = 0.04
