CompuBox: The Foundation of Boxing Statistics
CompuBox is the official punch statistics system used in professional boxing, providing real-time data on punches thrown and landed.
What CompuBox Tracks
- Jabs - Total jabs thrown and landed
- Power Punches - All non-jab punches (crosses, hooks, uppercuts, body shots)
- Total Punches - Combination of jabs and power punches
- Connect Percentage - Accuracy rate for each punch type
How It's Recorded
Two trained operators watch each fighter, using specialized keypads to record every punch thrown and landed. The data is compiled in real-time and reported between rounds.
Key Metrics
- Punches Landed per Round - Volume metric
- Connect Percentage - Efficiency metric
- Power Punch Percentage - Aggression indicator
- Plus/Minus - Net advantage in punches landed
Limitations
CompuBox doesn't measure punch effectiveness, knockdowns, or defensive metrics. It's a volume and accuracy tracker, not a damage assessor.
