Finastra / IIF (2021). The RegTech Universe. Comprehensive mapping of RegTech vendors by segment and capability. Published collaboratively between an industry association and a major banking technology firm. Useful for understanding segment breadth even if specific vendor rankings should be evaluated independently.

KPMG (annual). Pulse of Fintech — RegTech sections. Investment data for RegTech as a segment of broader FinTech. The most reliable source for deal count and volume data by sub-segment.

Gartner. Hype Cycle for Legal and Compliance Technologies. Gartner's hype cycle methodology — which technologies are "overhyped" vs. approaching practical maturity — is specifically useful for evaluating vendor claims. Available to subscribers; summaries often published in trade press.

Regulation Asia (regtech.asia) The primary trade publication for APAC RegTech news. Essential for practitioners operating in or advising clients in the region.

Global Fintech Review. RegTech 50 Annual Report. Annual ranking of RegTech vendors by various criteria. Take rankings with appropriate caution (methodology and sponsorship influence results), but useful for identifying the major players in each segment.

Bower, J.L. & Christensen, C.M. (1995). Disruptive Technologies: Catching the Wave. Harvard Business Review. The foundational article on disruptive innovation — still the best framework for thinking about why incumbents struggle to respond to new technologies. Applies directly to the "incumbent trap" dynamic described in Case Study 3.2.

Zetzsche, D.A., Arner, D.W., & Buckley, R.P. (2020). Decentralized Finance. Journal of Financial Regulation. Analysis of decentralized finance and its regulatory implications, including the compliance challenges that DeFi creates. Essential for understanding how the RegTech ecosystem may need to evolve.

Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre (Australia). RegTech 2030: The Future of Regulatory Compliance Technology. A forward-looking academic analysis of where RegTech is heading over the next decade, particularly in the APAC context.
