The Athena Story
Part 5 follows Athena through the most difficult period of its AI journey. What began as an HR screening efficiency project reveals significant bias against older applicants and candidates from non-traditional educational backgrounds. The discovery forces Athena to confront uncomfortable questions about whose assumptions were encoded in its training data, whose voices were absent from the design process, and what governance structures should have caught the problem earlier.
